Max and Sam We are Emma Shay’s Legacy, it’s a wonderful new Facebook page by my amazing sister from another mister!

If you love pit bull pages on Facebook than you are going to love this one!

This page was created by a woman I was very fortunate to meet, my friend Kym, who works tirelessly to help pit bulls and other adaptable dogs.

She is an advocate for responsible pet guardians, she fights to stomp out BSL, and end animal cruelty! How cool is she???

She is a real inspiration to me personally and to many others as well. Please feel free to tell your friends to like and share her page, and if you pop by remember to do that same!

NO HATERS PLEASE, lions don’t lose sleep over the opinions of sheep.

Kym..,1185536_475137882596335_1634567378_n thank you for all you do, for all the ways you create change and for giving me the chance to meet and get to know a kindred spirit! It’s us, the pups and the minions to the end!

I’m back, where I’ve been and what’s up next

28748_166911366782736_147438333_nHi gang!

I have not been posting in a while, mostly because of my dog training course.

I am in the last phase of the program and I have been very busy getting ready for my final, I am looking for some rescues to help me out with an essay I am writing so I am hoping that I get some responses.

I need three shelters or rescues willing to be interviewed by phone I need to know the percentages of dogs relinquished, the reasons why they were relinquished, the percentages  of dogs adopted and percentages of dogs euthanized, and why.

rehabilitation training to prevent dogs from losing potential homes, and training to make homeless dogs more adoptable

Also the numbers and reasons why dogs are returned after adoption.

My goal as a trainer is to keep dogs out of the shelters and to stop euthanizations due to a lack of training, and also to help people to understand how important proper training is and why it should be part of every responsible owners priority and gift to their pets success as a member of our society.

If anyone knows of shelters and rescues interested in helping me out with this please send me an email at apitomesblog@shaw.ca and please include the shelter or rescue name and address, contact persons name, title and phone number.

Remember folks keeping animals safe and out of the shelter systems is or should be a primary goal.

Thank you to everyone that visits my blog, comments, and shares their own experiences, without you all this would all be for nothing! It’s you that have helped me help them, so again thank you very much! I appreciate it deeply!

After graduation I look forward to sharing many things with you all, and getting back to what I love, helping dogs in need and tending to my blog! I am hoping to include some free basic training videos for you all to share and enjoy.

Hurricane Sandy… Helping the animals and their familes find each other again! Please share!

Starting today I would like to offer to anyone who finds a lost pet, anyone who has lost a pet, or any rescue groups who want to match up pets and their families affected by the hurricane, to post free of charge all listings, posters and inquiries.

You can post a lost add, you can post a found add and you can refer people to the blog for match ups. Each day any emails I receive to apitomesblog@shaw.ca will be posted in an effort to match people to their pets who may have been inadvertently left, or lost due to the hurricane! Please feel free to share this info or drop me a note so we can network effectively to match people and their pets.

I am deeply sorry to all those affected by the hurricane, and to those whom have lost loved ones, you are all in my thoughts through these trying and scary times.

If you send an email pet pls try to include a picture when possible, it does help!

Stay safe out there and may you all be reunited very soon!

O.K. so this one is not about pit bulls but it’s important, and they really need our help to end the madness that is the cove! Please share, and speak out.

URGENT: The latest is a very big pod with a baby are netted in the Cove in Taiji Japan for killing!

If you can share this info they might be saved. We are being asked to phone the Japanese embassies now! Perhaps it will save the dolphins? If not maybe it will finally garner the change these beautiful mammals need!

List of japanese embassies: ( Links) http://www.mofa.go.jp/about/emb_cons/mofaserv.html
MOFA: Japanese Embassies and Consulates Websites www.mofa.go.jp It was asked that people be polite so there will be more chance of the Japanese considering saving the dolphins. It’s ok to show emotions, but get the words out!  It’s not just a dolphin, or pilot whale, these are sentient beings, they grieve they cry out for one another, they see their own family members being killed, can you imagine that? Are you foolish enough to think they don’t have feelings? Please speak out about this awful practice, boycott aquariums, and dolphin resorts selling “swims” these animals have saved humans countless times, now it’s our turn to return the favor!
This was a photo taken from Taiji the dolphins that are not bought by zoo’s, animal brokers, and resorts are not let go, they are slaughters and sold as “tuna”, Yes you heard right Tuna. Activist Rick O’Barry proved that and how far Japan’s Fishing commission will go to cover it up.
I also encourage people to call these aquariums and resorts, let them know what your feelings are and take what they say with a grain of salt, after all they are in on this practice they know full well what goes on in Taiji, and yet they keep paying for more!
Pilot whales are killed by the thousands each year in Taiji and the Faroe islands, and we must take a stand before there are no dolphins or whales left!

For the love of Renton

I came across this today on Facebook;

Please help me find a GOOD home to go to very soon. I was saved from a very scary place by this wonderful group and my foster daddy. But now he has to move far away and can’t take me with him. I will need another place to lay my handsome head and eat my food. Will you give me that place? Will you be my new family? I will be your loyal furry companion forever and ever. If you like me (and I just KNOW I’m gonna like you), fill out an application here: http://www.saveaboxer.org/forms/form_humanverify?formid=2115 Please please share far and wide – my time is running out and I have to find a new home to go to very SOON! Love, Renton ♥

I have spoken with Renton’s foster dad and here are a few things he would like to share:

I’m moving to Seattle in a couple weeks.  Currently I’m in Holiday, FL, just north of Tarpon Springs. Renton is a great pup, but would do better in an environment where someone is home more often than not.  When I first got him, he had severe crate/separation anxiety issues, but he’s doing well in a crate now.  He just doesn’t seem to do too well in the crates at the vet’s office.  It’s also best to keep him active.  I walk him twice a day, each 3 miles.  He seems to get along with most other dogs, but had some resource protection issues when we first pulled him.  He and my dog Fiona get along very well together.  They play quite rough and to the casual observer, his wrinkling of his nose and teeth baring, combined with vocals may be interpreted as aggressive, but they’re not.

Renton is located in florida as stated so if you live in Florida and would like to make this charmer a part of your family please contact the rescue to fill out an application for foster or adoption today!

So it sounds like Renton has come a long way thanks to Mark, here are some of this handsome boys pictures as well:

Please share with anyone you trust that loves dogs, let’s help Renton get the fur-always home he deserves!

I will always go to bat for those in need so with that said..,

Here is an excerpt from a Facebook page that I am part of;

My Facebook friends…..it hurts me to ask for anything, but I have to make the hardest decision of my life next Saturday and I need help with the money to help Sebastian cross over……..If you can, you know how grateful I am, if you can’t, believe me, I understand………just keep us in your prayers as I go through this week of saying goodbye to my best friend of 17 years……

This girl has gone to bat for so many rescues, and animals in need over the years Sherryl Jenkinson, is losing her best friend and she can’t pay to have him cremated and handled properly because she gives so much of her own funds, time and energy to all these other rescues, her goal is $250.00 and I NEVER support chip-ins on the blog, unless they are for a rescue directly, but since I know Sherryl, I am going to make an exception to that rule!

I want to help her get this done so she can focus on helping dear sweet Sebastian cross over the rainbow bridge!

If you cannot donate, that is fine I can repsect that, but please share just in case there are others out there you know who will. Below is Sebastian’s chip in:

Sebastian’s Chip In

Thank you very much and if you are on Facebook if you would like to send Sherryl any special messages of sympathy, I’m sure she would appreciate it very much!

Photo Time!

WE ARE LOOKING FOR YOUR PIT BULL PICS!!!

We would love to feature your pit bull photos, I am hoping to take another stab at doing a weekly featured pit, our only request is, no photos of dogs on chains, and if you are looking to show off how tough your pit bull looks, please try Facebook or MySpace instead. Other than that, we welcome all breeds, pure breds, mixes, rescues and their people! the goal here is to pump photos out into the mainstream that educate, that show happy, healthy dogs!

Let’s get their reputation and their image back. I am sick of seeing nothing but snarling, and or fighting photos all over the net, lets show the world the real pit bull! Please send your photos to apitomesblog@shaw.ca please be sure to include some details about your dog.

All photos WILL be posted, and once a week, if I get enough I will post the “Bark Out Dog Of The Week” every friday, so please share this with your friends and ask them to send it to any friends that have pit bulls as well, lets show places like Denver, Australia, and Belfast exactly what they are missing!

Bark out time for my Baylee she’s on Youtube!!!!

I must first explain the channel name, My Damn Dog…, Well my daughter and I were jokingly fighting over Baylee her first night with us, Noa said “Is she my dog?” and I said “No she’s my dog.” joking obviously. Well we got on a real role over who was going to own the worlds greatest pit bull! Translation: (It’s my damn dog! No, it’s my damn dog!) We love Baylee with all our hearts so no hate mail please 🙂 I joke a lot with my kids, I teach them that there’s many things about life you have to laugh at… including yourself!

We want to see This YouTube channel succeed, to bring the public around, to show them that pit bull’s really are just like any other dog, they are capable of all the same things, success and failure! It’s the guardian/parent that shapes the dog just as they would a child!

Thank you so much everyone your support since day one is very humbling to me, my family, and yes, even Baylee. You have helped me with every post, in changing the way the rest of the world looks at Pit Bulls, bully breeds, and even the breeds who just look like pit bulls, so on behalf of Baylee I will simply say, once again, Thank You Very Much! She went from a little starved dog slated to be euthanized, a dog that looked so beat down and pathetic, even I wasn’t really ready for some of the behaviours I saw in her, so scared, so timid and untrusting of what may come next, to a dog that will not be brought down! She’s a star! She has come a long way, and still has a way to go, but she is changing everyday, becoming what I affectionately call “My Little Barnacle” Here are some pictures of Baylee the first ones are how she looked when we got her, the others are as she is today.

Love that dog!

Here are her first two YouTube videos please enjoy, like, share, comment, subscribe to the :MyDamnDog channel!

Send us video ideas, things you’d like to see. Eventually we will be doing reviews on dog food and dog related products.

We want the world to see how funny life with a pit bull can be, most of all we want to share our funny videos of the little pit bull that could with all of you!

My Damn Dog gets serenaded to sleep

My Damn Dog hates air (short)

Thanks everyone, and have a great day!

This is what I am talking about…. a prime example of yet another Social networking site that takes no responsibility!

This little gem is on YouTube, many complaints have been sent and yet it is still up, still feeding the insatiable need for violence, to all those criminals! Thanks Youtube what a wonderful world you are helping to shape!

That garbage should be banned. It should have never been allowed to be posted in the first place, its against the law! This is not free speech, its animal abuse. YouTube GET IT TOGETHER! Take responsibility for what you allow and remove this crap from your site! You are no better than Facebook!

Dog fight, dog abuse, and where’s YouTube while we all complain????

***Urgent Update on Saving Snoopy!***

First off I want to thank each and everyone of you that took the time to speak up for Snoopy! not all Pit Bulls are as lucky as he is, and not all of them get a second chance at life! I just reiceived word that Snoopy is free!!!!!!! he is out of impound and going home with his daddy and its all because of people like you, so please never forget the importance of sharing and getting involved! you all had a hand in Saving Snoopy! THANK YOU FOR THAT! I will add the picture of Snoop going home!
 HOW GREAT IS THAT!
From a facebook animal lover Larisa Sharikin:
We have an EMERGENCY on our hands and we need all of the help we can get!! I have a friend that is in Florida that was walking his dog Snoopy. A woman was walking her dog at the same time and her little dog got away from her and bit Snoopy. Snoopy bit the dog back in defense and is now in a shelter and the state of Florida is deeming him a dangerous dog and wants to put him down. Snoopy’s 77 ye…ar old owner has appealed the case and the appeal is on the 25th of this month! We need an animal rights lawyer and as many people as possible to get involved to save Snoopy and return him to his senior owner! Hi Everyone. I went to check on Snoopy at Halifax Humane Society.First of all I want to say thank you for all people who called them. At first the staff did not know who Snoopy was or that he was actually there, so they wanted me to apologize for misinformation. Snoopy has a nice bed AND a blanket in his kennel. He looked fine..not marks on him at all. He does look scared and confused, he definitely wants OUT. What we need to do now is contact the City of Deltona people. The Humane Society is only holding him. I will get the contact info for who we need to contact and will post that.Halifax is a wonderful shelter. Yes, it is a kill shelter. But they are actively looking to become a no kill shelter. The staff is very caring and do a great job. The community is very involved with this shelter and there are many volunteers there that walk the dogs and such. The back room that I was taken through had tons of dog and cat food that people had donated. Every dog has bed and blanket and the kennels are very clean. So, I will now work on starting a Facebook Page for Snoopy and getting info to people. Please do not call the Humane Society since they are not involved in the outcome of this case. HERE IS ALL THE CONTACT INFORMATION. PLEASE CALL, WRITE AND FAX. THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT THAT THE CITY OF DELTONA HEARS OUR VOICES. PLEASE BE POLITE AND RESPECTFUL.:

Snoopy also has friends on Facebook, they can be reached via the following thread:
Remember folks Snoopy is only there because of his appearance and breed, if he had been a poodle, or golden lab he would not be where he is now and in our hearts we all know that to be true!
Snoop…, hang in there buddy! You have people you don’t even know stepping up right now! To all those who have stepped up for a strangers dog, thank you! Larisa… You are an awesome lady! Thanks to you too for working to get the info out so quickly and for going to see snoopy, to make sure he was ok!
