For the love of Renton

I came across this today on Facebook;

Please help me find a GOOD home to go to very soon. I was saved from a very scary place by this wonderful group and my foster daddy. But now he has to move far away and can’t take me with him. I will need another place to lay my handsome head and eat my food. Will you give me that place? Will you be my new family? I will be your loyal furry companion forever and ever. If you like me (and I just KNOW I’m gonna like you), fill out an application here: http://www.saveaboxer.org/forms/form_humanverify?formid=2115 Please please share far and wide – my time is running out and I have to find a new home to go to very SOON! Love, Renton ♥

I have spoken with Renton’s foster dad and here are a few things he would like to share:

I’m moving to Seattle in a couple weeks.  Currently I’m in Holiday, FL, just north of Tarpon Springs. Renton is a great pup, but would do better in an environment where someone is home more often than not.  When I first got him, he had severe crate/separation anxiety issues, but he’s doing well in a crate now.  He just doesn’t seem to do too well in the crates at the vet’s office.  It’s also best to keep him active.  I walk him twice a day, each 3 miles.  He seems to get along with most other dogs, but had some resource protection issues when we first pulled him.  He and my dog Fiona get along very well together.  They play quite rough and to the casual observer, his wrinkling of his nose and teeth baring, combined with vocals may be interpreted as aggressive, but they’re not.

Renton is located in florida as stated so if you live in Florida and would like to make this charmer a part of your family please contact the rescue to fill out an application for foster or adoption today!

So it sounds like Renton has come a long way thanks to Mark, here are some of this handsome boys pictures as well:

Please share with anyone you trust that loves dogs, let’s help Renton get the fur-always home he deserves!

Change to the “Dog of the Week”…. An update.

I’m baaaaaack!

Phew!!! It’s been a grueling couple of weeks in the dog training course and it looks like my next section will be a big one too, but I’ll try to keep the posts coming more often.

I am sad to say that There didn’t seem to be a lot of interest in the dog of the week, Thank you so much to all the great families that sent in all those amazing pictures of their dogs and puppies, without you these dogs would be lost!

Thanks for showing the world what love and responsible pet ownership really means, you guys rock!

So with that said I am changing things up a bit, rather than feature your dog photo’s, I thought I would feature a dog in need, rescue’s and fosters, you are welcome to send in your pictures please make sur you send a photo, and complete contact info as well as the city, state or province, and Country as well. Don’t forget to add some details about the dog, everybody like to have the story behind the picture!

You can send them to apitomesblog@shaw.ca The goal will shift from showcasing the breed to saving them from certain death in some cases, in shelters and pounds and we all know that pit bulls make up the highest percentage of shelter dogs.

Today’s little gem will break your heart, make you fall instantly in love and inspire you to get involved! As far as I know he has no name so I have taken it upon myself to dub him Esperodo loosely translated it means “He has hope” in the basque language.

With out further ado here is Esperudo:

This emaciated boy wondered into Jennifer Marcel (SNARR adoptions coordinator) neighborhood and her husband picked him up. Looks like a new SNARR baby…. the vet said He is 12 weeks old, 12lbs, a broken k-9 baby tooth, dehydrated, loaded w…ith hook worms and will need possible surgery to repair the hack job done to his ears. To help with his care donations can be made through chipin http://snarr1.chipin.com/tonka or via PayPal @ snarr_1@Yahoo.com or through our website www.snarranimalrescue.org

Please help me to help SNARR to get this boy the help he needs and ultimately help him find a safe, loving, and fur-always home.

Thanks everyone for your patience and support while I have been busy at school, you guys ROCK LIKE NEW SOCKS!

So the dog of the week shall now be dubbed “Rescue Me Weekly” and may sometimes showcase more than one dog depending on urgency.

Have a great weekend!

Boycott China, and stop the rampant abuse of it’s animals today!

Sorry I have not been around gang, I have a huge work-load this term at dog training school, but I will have loads of wonderful things to share very soon!

Now very few of the dogs abused are pit bull, but the breed means nothing to me the abuse is what we need to stop. Please be a part of the solution today, sign and share.

In terms of animal welfare or protection, for standards or minimum requirements for care in China there is none! We must demand action from our Governments.., NOW!

Thank you.

This weeks dog is…..,Rose!

So this is sweet Rose, although she’s sleeping I can tell there’s a wonderful dog in there, I mean any dogs that looks like an angel when she sleeps, has to be one in real life right? LOL. I hear she’s quite the social butterfly as well!

Roses mom writes;

This is Rose, she is a year old APBT/boxer mix.  She is the goofiest little (or not so little) thing.  She is terrified of our cats and whines for us to pick her up and carry her past them. No easy task anymore since she is around 40 pounds now and getting bigger everyday. She loves our daughter and us immensely and rarely wants to be out of the room away from us.  She is amazing with other dogs and has quite a few dog friends at the park who get very excited to see her.  She is the love of my life.

Well Kristin, I can certainly see why! I’m glad she is yet another voice, or bark, if you will, for the cause.

Another fine example of what pit bulls, and mixes really are, Thank you for sharing your girl with us all, and thanks for showing more people, that responsible ownership equals great dogs! Have a wonderful weekend Kristin, Rose, and family! And remember everyone please share, and tell your pit bull loving/owning friends to email their pictures to apitomesblog@shaw.ca and I will gladly showcase their wonderful dogs as well, and even thought this is a pit bull blog we will gladly showcase any dog that is a positive and responsible member of the family and the community, here at Apitome’s Blog there is never discrimination based on breed, I love all dogs equally, and every special dog should have their day to shine and be recognized!

I’m sure glad to see that the abusers NEVER take a day off!

With that said today’s abuser loser is…. Umar Aziz! Congrats Umar, since you couldn’t master the very simple art of FEEDING YOUR DOGS, You have won yourself a ticket to the grey bar motel, and the hatred of millions!

Utica ass-hat likes to starve his dogs

Alway around to fight for and speak out for those who can’t, and a very big “Bark Out” to Chris Shepherd for this article! Way to go Chris! Thanks for being part of the fight for justice for animals!

With any luck there will be an animal loving guard at the jailhouse that can show good ol Umar what going without food, and being a prisoner to hunger is all about!

I will always go to bat for those in need so with that said..,

Here is an excerpt from a Facebook page that I am part of;

My Facebook friends…..it hurts me to ask for anything, but I have to make the hardest decision of my life next Saturday and I need help with the money to help Sebastian cross over……..If you can, you know how grateful I am, if you can’t, believe me, I understand………just keep us in your prayers as I go through this week of saying goodbye to my best friend of 17 years……

This girl has gone to bat for so many rescues, and animals in need over the years Sherryl Jenkinson, is losing her best friend and she can’t pay to have him cremated and handled properly because she gives so much of her own funds, time and energy to all these other rescues, her goal is $250.00 and I NEVER support chip-ins on the blog, unless they are for a rescue directly, but since I know Sherryl, I am going to make an exception to that rule!

I want to help her get this done so she can focus on helping dear sweet Sebastian cross over the rainbow bridge!

If you cannot donate, that is fine I can repsect that, but please share just in case there are others out there you know who will. Below is Sebastian’s chip in:

Sebastian’s Chip In

Thank you very much and if you are on Facebook if you would like to send Sherryl any special messages of sympathy, I’m sure she would appreciate it very much!

When is a service dog, a service dog? Who decides what “service” & “disability” really are and/or who really has them?

This is the second story of the same nature I have heard about this week, so I felt compelled to share it with you. Also I would like to give a special “Bark out” to Edward Owens for allowing me to share this with you all.

Eight-year-old Sean Forsyth suffers from autism. The Pine Richland School District (In Gibsonia, PA) has used stalling tactics and other unprofessional behavior with the Forsyth family to discourage them from asking that Sean’s service dog, Sophia, be allowed to attend school with him. The petition will be sent to the superintendent and other officials in the hopes public opinion forces them to follow the law and allow Sophia to attend school with Sean under the Americans With Disabilities Act. Sophia is Sean’s best friend and biggest helper. Having her in school with him will help give him the best educational experience possible. Below is a petition to allow Sophia to go with Sean to school, please feel free to sign and share with friends.

Let Sophia go to school with Sean

It is really time we start looking past our own “Issues” and focus on helping people. The simple fact is that children, all children deserve the right to a proper education, and personally I feel if Sophia can help Sean obtain that, then I fully support her and her skin-kid! Sean’s Mother Jennifer started this petition and Edward graciously allowed me to “borrow” his copy if you will.

It has been said that the safety of the other children is a concern, and honestly that is so silly to me, I mean let’s think about it for a minute, service dogs are everywhere in the Western world, Canada and the USA use them for a variety of tasks and at no time when I see a service dog in public to I think, “Oh my lord, gather your children, the beast is a bout to strike!” If we did, there would be no service dogs, and the only service dog in History, to attack a person was a Vancouver service dog that was protecting his owner from a mugging, so for me it’s a “no counter”

I think that what is important here is that Sophia gives Sean what he needs to be able to function at school, and frankly even if at the bare minimum, all she gives him is self-confidence/esteem it would be a resonating YES for me.

To everyone who has taken the time to hear Sean and Sophia’s story, and help out! You are action takers, and the world needs that right now, so thank you very much!

Here is the other story I was referring to:

Washington, PA boy denied service dog

makes me wonder if PA needs to accompany the tin man to see the wizard and obtain their heart as well!
