The Christmas Season.., What does it mean to you?

To me Christmas has always meant giving of yourself freely and with purpose, it has meant peace and good will, it has meant family and friends, and a huge sloppy wet kiss Christmas morning because the dog really wants to unwrap that bone!

I know with everything we are inundated with all year-long can be hard, so let me leave you with just  a few things to ponder before you grasp your kin and hold them close this year…

A little inspiration from my friend Stevie Ohlarik;

If you can’t adopt – foster… If you can’t foster – sponsor… If you can’t sponsor – volunteer… If you can’t volunteer – donate…or transport an animal to safety…. If you can’t donate – educate, network, and cross-post… Everyone can do something, large or small, to help save a life.

Now isn’t that what the Christmas season is all about? But should it end there? Shouldn’t it be what everyone should be doing, not trying to save the world, just a piece of it. If everyone did just one thing, imagine what that would look like.

As far as BSL goes, Don’t let it ruin a little girls Christmas or New Year, why should her friend be taken away or killed in a shelter, just because of the way he looks? Pit bulls are not ticking time bombs they are loving compassionate little creatures, who have the tenacity and drive it takes to be called man’s best friend, because now days man doesn’t seem very worthy of being a pit bulls best friend.

To all my pit bull families and friends, advocates, and rescues Merry Christmas! Thank you for standing with me, for speaking out for educating the public.

David Edelstein, Drayton Michaels, Jean Donaldson, Dr. Ian Dunbar, Kym, Kurt, Simon, Billy, Matty, Cris, Jim, and all the others I can’t possibly all fit in here.., MWAH! You all know who you are and thank you!

This year I see more people waking up from under the ether that is BSL, I see education and understanding coming before fear and bias! I see a lot of things but none of them are possible without all of you, so to each and every person that reads this blog, that shares my posts, that retweets the things I say and the messages I try to convey, who does what they can on their own to change and end BSL forever, to rescue and save a life, Merry Christmas to you as well, and thanks!

A not so Merry Christmas

About apitome

I am a mother, a pit bull advocate, but mostly I am just like any of you, I am passionate about politics, the environment and dog advocacy. I want possitive changes within the judicial system as well. I want my children to grow up in a country where we are not told what breed of dog we can own. I want to see BSL put in the trash where it belongs! I want to see the constitution protected but not manipulated *see anything on the mosque near ground zero (USA) or changing Merry Christmas to Happy Holidays (Canada)* I am not racist in any way shape or form against any ethnic group, I do however have prejudices against bad behavior! If you abuse our laws, kids, the elderly, or animals, If you move to a new country and then demand that country to change everything about it's laws & way of life to suit your own agenda, If you blatantly break those laws with no regard and show no repect for them, if you engage in dog fighting or any other forms of animal abuse, torture or neglect, or if you are a pedophile, Than yes! You are on my radar for sure, and I will do EVERYTHING within my power to see you stopped and brought to justice! Furthering that goal, I have no qualms about publishing the names and faces of convicted abusers. I am not trying to change the world, I simply want to see things improve not backslide, Mostly for my children and these wonderful dogs futures! I may say things you agree with, and I may say things that you won't agree with, I may anger you, challenge you, or just plain piss you off, but in my book that's ok as long as long as it inspires some form of action on your part. This is not a popularity contest, If I have said anything about a group or person that you don't agree with please feel free to leave a comment or simply don't come back. If You have been mentioned in my blog it is for one of two reasons, you are either an advocate or you are an abuser loser, if you are the latter I could care less what you think! I value the opinions of trash about as much as I do that of a slug! Everything in print here is a matter of public record, or came from a trusted source, with that said, I am certainly willing to print both sides of any story, in an effort to be fair and always print the truth! Also liked your story not just the videos. When I wish I had this or wish I had that. I think of all who don’t even have a home, human and animal. Then I wish I had money to help them. Vicious circle.

      Too true Dogwalker8, I try to remember to teach my kids the importance of giving rather than recieving, as for all the needy pets this is when I think about them and their human counter parts the most!

    Awesome blog post! I stumbled upon yours as I was getting ready to post mine! For Christmas I sent several bags of kibble and moving blankets to a pit bull rescue. That is my Christmas present. Knowing I help some misunderstood pitties stay warm with full belly’s!

    p.s. I’m going to subscribe to your blog! Great to meet you!
