When I think of pit bulls and responsible families, these are the images that come to mind;
Before we judge the dog we had better be willing to judge the evil or loving hand that holds his leash first. The media and groups like Dogsbite, Anti Pit Bull Club (facebook), Pit Nutter Inc, and many more have perpetuated and fed off of the fear that they harbour and create.
These groups spread lies about the breed, and they are run by people who have ZERO real knowledge of the breed, they do not know their character traits, their physical needs or their capabilities. They post shark attack photos and say they are pit bull, and they deliberately misinform the public based on their own personal fear and or hatred/bias of the breed. When you leave a comment on their pages that are in any way pro pit, or corrective (ie, the truth) your comment is removed or deleted. Personally if someone has something to say I do not mind posting it but I will not allow comments that perpetuate hate or violence, those are my parameters for approval. The goal here to truthfully and fairly educate the public.
When you think of pit bull what do you see? and where does it come from? a place of fear, a place of love, or a place of misinformation?
Remember that these are just dogs, not monsters lurking in the dark corners of alleys waiting to attack, they are not loaded guns or time bombs, they are dogs, the react to their environment, and anyone telling you different is uninformed, or has an agenda.
Do you own a pit bull? Do people cross the street when you walk down it? Do you wish they could see what you see? Do you have people come up and asked to see and pet your dog?I am curious how many positive interactions and requests a pit bull owner gets in todays media based society, do more people than I think see through the nonsense?
I hope so.
