Celebrity Responsibilty, like it or not it’s your burden!

Well it’s in the news so lets talk about it.

This post is in response to Chris Rock’s appearance on Jay Leno;                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        Jay Leno: “It’s amazing to me that you mistreat a dog and you lose your career and go to jail for two years.”

Is in really jay? what should he have gotten? I’m sorry I forgot that if its animal abuse, you shouldn’t be punished because it’s just a dog after all! You sir are an Insensitive boorish Fool!

Chris Rock: “What the hell did Michael Vick do, man? A dog, a pit bull ain’t even a real dog. A pit bull, that’s the white stuff. Dogs are white mans best friend – dogs have never been good to black people.”

Really? Well Chris here’s a news flash for you since you seem to repeatedly show the world how uneducated and Ill mannered you truly are, There are many, repeat many service dogs in the world helping quote “Black People” and I’m pretty sure at least one of them is a Pit Bull!

Chris Rock was up for the role of Richard Pryor in a movie about his life, this is what Jennifer Pryor had to say:

Jennifer Pryor’s letter to Mr. Rock:
TO CHRIS ROCK:  SO ironic that you are talking about your poor, scalding scalp, and how it burned from all those chemicals…when you are completely clueless when it comes to how those innoc…ent dogs suffered while being tortured by Michael Vick! We were on the front page of Variety today and the timing is unfortunate for it comes the same day I am forced to write this letter! Richard and I established Pryor’s Planet, a non-profit, before he passed, for the purpose of rescuing and rehabilitating homeless and abused or neglected dogs, so they can go into loving, forever homes! PRYOR’S PLANET is an all breed rescue: which means, we rescue everything from little white, fluffy dogs to Pitbulls. We currently have 40 dogs we are caring for while they await their forever homes. Among these 40 dogs, Pryor’s Planet has 7 Pitbulls (actually American Staffordshire Terriers), all of whom are receiving care and training while they await their forever homes, at great expense I might add! Each one is a sweet and affectionate dog who was mistreated, or dumped or neglected all because of their breed! These are sentient, thinking beings with real feelings. SOMEONE PUT THIS ON MY FACE BOOK PAGE THIS MORNING: Chris asks, “What did Vick do? Pit bulls aren’t real dogs anyway.” If he doesn’t understand at this point then I guess he never will. If you’re taking Vick’s side, it’s unforgivable. This is as bad as if a white guy on a 50’s talk show defended killing a black man. “I mean, it’s not like he’s a real human. What did he do?” Regarding those comments Chris: “What did Michael Vick do? Pitbulls aren’t even real dogs!” What Michael Vick did was torture, drown, electrocute and murder several dogs all for fun and for profit! He went to prison for FELONY ANIMAL CRUELTY! That’s what he did! Because of your insensitive and ignorant remarks that you made on The Jay Leno Show,The David Letterman show and various public forums and websites; I have notified my attorney and Bill Condon directly that I don’t want you, Chris Rock, associated with the Richard Pryor Bio Pic—UNLESS, you find a way to retract and apologize for these comments in some public way. Clearly this is part of your latest stand-up routine which frankly, would not make Richard laugh! Richard knew you and I know you, Chris, you are not from the streets, nor are you a country bumkin…so to whom are you trying to appeal with these outrageous remarks? These type of comments only foment and encourage abuse and misunderstanding of this breed as well as actual dog fighting. Kind of like Rush Limbaugh does for the crazy right! Do you want to become the Rush Limbaugh to the rescue community? I have personally been involved in saving Pits from fight rings in Texas and California and in fact have one in my personal pack who was used as a ‘bait dog’ in a fight ring…a sweet, young puppy who is now a sweet adult dog! Outraged and hurt, Jennifer Lee Pryor.

I know just as we all do, that there are ignorant people everywhere, in every walk of life, basic and celebrity, rich and poor, educated and uneducated they exist and we can’t deny that.
Chris Rock, Jay Leno, you are both douche bags as far as I’m concerned. They can join the ranks of their friend dear, sweet, misunderstood and wrongly targeted Mr. Michael Vick!
However as a society, we must focus on what you can change not what you can’t!
What we can change is the idea that when you become a celebrity suddenly you cease to have a moral or physical responsiblity for the negative things you say and or do.
Case and point these three schmucks, when you know that millions of people are going to hear those statements and watch those actions and solely because you are a celebrity they (the sheep of society) will believe in and follow your examples and statements.
So yes! You have a responsibilty and yes, you are to be held to the same standard as the President, a police officer, a teacher, a parent, etc., is held to!
So diminishing the brutal and horrific acts of a sadistic killer for profit, is “NOT OK”  in my books!
As for Vick himself, he should have never been allowed to return to the NFL positions such as the one he held are an “HONOR”, not a right! and when your actions reflect negatively on said organization you should be cast out permanently and for good!
The reason Michael Vick was allowed back folks boils down to the money that was invested, these “MEN”  wanted the return on their investment, and well…, KARMA! now he’s got an injury oooooh! Poor Baby!
I am held to a certain standard and I am not a celebrity so why not you?  Jay: I will no longer support your show. Chris: I have never been a fan I find your humour weak at best, Bill Cosby never slammed people to get ahead, Will Smith didn’t and he is a shining example of what a celebrity is! you need to think about it. All of you, every celebrity that thinks because you are “adored by your fans” that you are entitled to a get out of jail free card. I say, you are not!
Bravo Jennifer Pryor for being that voice of reason, being a defender of the American Pit Bull Terrier, your statement was well thought out, clear to the point and very eloquent. You are another shining example of who a celebrity should be so  thank you!
Lets turn the tables on this little discussion what do you think?
