A new week, a new excerp from my life.

Where to start,  well lets start with my affinity for dogs, I guess I love dogs as much as I do because they are the only companion you will ever have, that wants to please you more than you will ever please them.

They are more loyal than your best friend, they will put themselves in front of you, to shield you from harm, and they are incapable of a lie, you know when you are looking into your dogs eyes that the emotion there is absolutely 100% truth.

I have always, and to the core of my being, hated anyone that is capable of hurting a dog, or any animal for that matter.

To me, I believe that we…, meaning (all creatures great and small) feel love, hate, pain, fear, sorrow, and loss. How anyone can intentionally inflict pain on our fellow creatures, just blows my mind! To continue…….,

One day I was walking home from work, and I passed by my local park, I loved that park it was cool in the heat of summer, and it had a warm feeling to it in winter, like a familiar friend wrapping a blanket over your shoulders. Weird I know but I grew up there so it was special in that way. It was cozy.

I digress, as I am cutting through the back of the park I hear these blood curdling yelps coming from the far field, so I rounded the old school building, to see what the heel was going on. Now in all honesty I thought that it was the neighbours dog, he used to get his head stuck in their fence because he just had to stick his head through it at least once a day, or so they told me, I assumed so he could say a quick friendly hello to whom ever had been passing by.

Not today, this day it would be a man, roughly about 6Ft tall give or take, a big guy by my standards, keep i mind I’m only 5 ft 1 1/2 inches tall, so anyone bigger than a toddler looks big to me, but that’s a story for another time!

This ape, is standing over a pitbull puppy maybe 5-6 months old beating this poor thing, with the buckle end of it’s own leash. Screaming at this dog, who by now is on it’s back wriggling like a worm in a BBQ pit. So I get up behind him, jerk the leash from his hands and start strapping him on the backs of his knee’s with it! true story! I will be the first to admit two things; First, it is never a good idea to attack a stranger, especially ones that could knock down the Chrysler building with a hard cough.

Two, unless you are sure you can beat them do not, I repeat do not start an altercation with an insane person. Well, as I am beating this goober within an inch of his pathetic excuse for a life, all the while shouting at him telling him a colossal pile of dung I think he is, he starts screaming “But it’s my dog! it’s My dog! I can hit him if I want to!” This statement would have infuriated some people into greater heights of belt whipping bliss, but I chose to leash up the dog and walk away, (Turning your back on an insane person is also not a good idea!) Caveman Larry there says “I’m calling the police on you, you psycho bitch!” So I returned fire with “That’s great!”  “Thanks!” “I’ll be sure to let them know everything that happened here today, and I’ll ask them to forward the SPCA’s investigations unit your name and address have a nice day!”

So I proceeded to take my newly acquired waif home with me, well no one ever came by and I did give my little friend to a rescue group, for placement in a forever home. she was with me for a bout a week and she was just the sweetest dog ever! I wanted to keep her so bad i could taste it, but I knew at that time in my life that would not have given her a better environment to be in. Although I would have never hurt her physically, I was not home much at that point in my life I was young and a social butterfly, and loneliness is just as bad as abuse, loneliness is neglect. I was not ready, and I knew it, deep down, I knew she needed better, knew she needed and deserved more!

Saba, (As she was later named)  did find her home with a young family, as I understand it she lived out a long and healthy life with them.

So I guess the moral of this is, never be afraid to act, sometimes it takes brave actions to save a life. Just do so in a safe way, one that does not put you in harm’s way.

Do I regret saving Saba? No! obviously no! but I do sometimes look back and think “Man! “Was I ever lucky that dude didn’t knock my cement head right off my little body!”  Then I throw up in my mouth just a little! Mainly because of  the thought that Caveman Larry probably went on to breed! GROSS!

You gotta feel sorry for those kids!

About apitome

I am a mother, a pit bull advocate, but mostly I am just like any of you, I am passionate about politics, the environment and dog advocacy. I want possitive changes within the judicial system as well. I want my children to grow up in a country where we are not told what breed of dog we can own. I want to see BSL put in the trash where it belongs! I want to see the constitution protected but not manipulated *see anything on the mosque near ground zero (USA) or changing Merry Christmas to Happy Holidays (Canada)* I am not racist in any way shape or form against any ethnic group, I do however have prejudices against bad behavior! If you abuse our laws, kids, the elderly, or animals, If you move to a new country and then demand that country to change everything about it's laws & way of life to suit your own agenda, If you blatantly break those laws with no regard and show no repect for them, if you engage in dog fighting or any other forms of animal abuse, torture or neglect, or if you are a pedophile, Than yes! You are on my radar for sure, and I will do EVERYTHING within my power to see you stopped and brought to justice! Furthering that goal, I have no qualms about publishing the names and faces of convicted abusers. I am not trying to change the world, I simply want to see things improve not backslide, Mostly for my children and these wonderful dogs futures! I may say things you agree with, and I may say things that you won't agree with, I may anger you, challenge you, or just plain piss you off, but in my book that's ok as long as long as it inspires some form of action on your part. This is not a popularity contest, If I have said anything about a group or person that you don't agree with please feel free to leave a comment or simply don't come back. If You have been mentioned in my blog it is for one of two reasons, you are either an advocate or you are an abuser loser, if you are the latter I could care less what you think! I value the opinions of trash about as much as I do that of a slug! Everything in print here is a matter of public record, or came from a trusted source, with that said, I am certainly willing to print both sides of any story, in an effort to be fair and always print the truth!
