So This weeks star is sweet Zella!
As you can tell she’s the real deal “the nanny dog” to the fullest!
Zella’s mom says this sweet girl goes everywhere with them, and they love telling people she’s a pit mix! Good for you mom! The more the real pit bull is shown off to the public the quicker the stereotypes and false perceptions will change!
Congrats Zella! and thanks for being just who and what you are…., the best!
Keep showing the world that “pit bull” doesn’t have to be a dirty word! That in fact, you are the best of the best at what you do, which is loving your family!
And thanks to Zella’s family for sharing her with us all, it is so great to see that there are people out there filled with pride, and not ashamed to show off their happy, healthy, well-adjusted family members.

Well gang, sorry I missed fridays pit bull of the week, I was hacked, I spent all weekend emailing wordpress, and finally got it back, funny that they didn’t even email me to let me know but whatever!

I am just glad to have access again, a lot of time and ebergy has gone into this blog.

I would just like to say that I do still support Ronald McDonald House, Sick children should never suffer because of Mcdonald’s lack of character and moral compass!

McDonald’s makes a pathetic and damaging attempt to win over the masses, at the expense of pit bulls!
So which pencil jockey VP at McDonald’s headquarters thought this little gem up?
And which member of the Kroc family thought this was PR and AC gold? Do they realize or even care how many shelter pit bulls this will affect? Have the even stopped to contemplate how many legitimate breeders of APBT’s will be effected?
How many shelter pit bulls have been passed by, or flat-out shunned by a naive and gullible public *we know they are out there, in significant numbers!* since this came out?
McDonald’s has now joined the ranks of Nike, Subway, BET network, Android and Burger King, in my books!
Their placement for me, is in the trash! I refuse purchase from, support, or otherwise endorse companies that deal in breed bias, or the sponsorship of animal abusers!
McDonald’s has (Ahem! Clears throat loudly!) apparently issued an apology, and frankly it doesn’t cut the mustard with me! It is insulting to say the least! It was a very calculated move on their part, they knew it would draw the attention of pit bulls advocates and haters everywhere! They knew they would be issuing said apology, and the entire thing makes me sick!,
Once again these dogs are vilified and used as pawns in the pursuit of cash! I will never eat at another McDonald’s restaurant again! Further more I will be reposting this everyday until the Kroc family and McDonald’s (RTM) takes ownership over their calculated abuse of these dogs and makes it right.
Perhaps by supporting the dogs that will be passed over at shelters thanks to their advertisement! Please look over the ad again there is an 1-800 number listed below…, please make a call! Please let McDonald’s know exactly what you think of them slandering your breed of choice!
This is not only disgusting to me, but completely un-acceptable on every level! McDonald’s and the Kroc family…

I am proud to announce this week is the very first “Pit Bull of the week” and this weeks star is…
Huckleberry and his beautiful sister Holiday! Below we see Huckleberry and his dad I believe, pretty cute baby picture right?
What a face!
I included this one of Huckleberry and his sister Holiday because just like him, she is so darn cute and family always has to stick together! Huckleberry and Holidays mom tells me that she was very quickly won over by the pit bull personality, I can relate! She also says that Holiday was a rescue from a storage yard, well… you know what they say, one mans junk is another’s treasure! Thanks so much to Tom and Esther for sharing their beautiful babies with us all!
It takes all of us sticking together, working together, and networking as one united group to create change, and with owners like you both out there, we get one step closer every day!
As stated in my pics post, every week on friday I would like to feature a very special pit bull (and family) if the pictures include their human sidekicks.
Please share with your friends, and please above all else, keep the pictures coming! Keep in mind here at Apitome’s blog we don’t discriminate based on breed, but obviously we are trying to spotlight dogs labeled under the “dangerous dogs” banner, so we are trying to focus on Pit bulls, pit mixes, etc., But by all means don’t hold back we are always willing to show pictures of your dogs too!
Let’s show the world how great our dogs are! Lets change some hearts and minds, and lets kick down some barriers and walls!
Our dogs would do anything for us, so it’s the least we can do for them.

Penny wrote this very sad, but often true story of abandonment. How often we have to see with vivid clarity how easy we have made it for people to abuse animals and just walk away!
I struggle with how to teach my children there is still goodness in the world when I have to see this garbage day on and day out, 365 days a year! My heart breaks for the dogs and various other animals that suffer in such ways, and by most standards sadly, this treatment was tame in comparison to some I have seen. I guess the focus should be first teaching my kids that lending aid when it is needed is key, and secondly that there are good people left in the world, people just like Penny, and just like the shelter staff that fall in love with these little innocents! They do what they do everyday, in hopes of saving just one!
Please help me to help Penny and the wonderful staff especially, (Linda Soto) at Maricopa County Animal Control, who want to see these dogs saved!

We would love to feature your pit bull photos, I am hoping to take another stab at doing a weekly featured pit, our only request is, no photos of dogs on chains, and if you are looking to show off how tough your pit bull looks, please try Facebook or MySpace instead. Other than that, we welcome all breeds, pure breds, mixes, rescues and their people! the goal here is to pump photos out into the mainstream that educate, that show happy, healthy dogs!
